Edmentum CEO Jamie Candee Named Global EdTech Leader of the Year

2025 EdTech Awards also name Edmentum’s Courses and Courseware as the best digital courseware solution
Bloomington, MN (April 8, 2025)—Edmentum, the leading provider of K-12 digital curriculum, assessments, and learning interventions that serve six million students nationwide, earned top honors in two categories in the 15th annual EdTech Awards. President and CEO Jamie Candee was named Best Global Leader, and Edmentum’s Courses and Courseware product repeated its win as Best Digital Courseware Solution after also topping the category in 2024.
The US-based EdTech Awards are the largest recognition program for education technology, shining a spotlight on many of the biggest and most influential companies in the industry. Each year, the program selects the top products, leaders, and trendsetters across the K-12, Higher Education, and Skills and Workforce sectors.
Jamie Candee Named Top Global Leader
A former educator with 15 combined years of leading Edmentum, Jamie has put educators and unique student needs at the forefront of Edmentum’s comprehensive K-12 digital solutions, which leverage adaptive technologies to accelerate learning, improve student achievement, and enable pathways to careers. Under her leadership, Edmentum has grown significantly and now serves 6 million students in all 50 U.S. states and 100+ countries. The company was also named to the GSV 150 as one of the top 150 private companies transforming digital learning and workforce skills.
Already this year, Jamie was recognized as one of the Top 25 Women Leaders in U.S. PE-Backed Software by executive search firm Calibre One. She has also received previous awards for her leadership of Edmentum, including ASU+GSV’s POW! (Power of Women) Award, the Entrepreneur of the Year Heartland Award from Ernst & Young, and Tech Edvocate’s Best Global EdTech Leader award.
Jamie continues to live by the credo of doing well by doing good in all her work. She founded Edmentum’s We Can Learn foundation in 2017, committed to making a meaningful impact in education through philanthropic giving and service that supports innovative learning opportunities. She also supports dynamic organizations by serving on numerous boards, including America Succeeds, The Learning Tree International, and Primrose Schools.
Edmentum Courseware Earns Second Consecutive Digital Courseware Solution Win
Courseware is a flexible digital curricula program for grade 6–adult learners, designed to fuel first-time credit, credit recovery, and expanded course access. Courseware is rigorous, relevant, aligned to state and national standards, and features a catalog unmatched in depth or quality: 500+ courses covering core, Advanced Placement, CTE and Career Pathways, world languages, and elective subjects.
Importantly, ESSA Tier 2 evidence supports Courseware’s role in decreasing absenteeism and tardiness while increasing on-time, four-year graduation and consistently high course completion rates. Another efficacy study efficacy study—which meets ESSA Tier 2 evidence requirements and the What Works Clearinghouse 5.0 Group Design standards with reservations—found that the use of Courseware Algebra 1 and English 1 was positively related to math and reading achievement on the NWEA MAP Growth assessments.
“One of the most powerful benefits we aim to provide districts—and one that is a particular strength of Edmentum Courseware—is to make sure there’s never a reason to tell a kid ‘no,’” said Candee. “This is a solution that helps schools transcend common implementation barriers and local limitations, presenting a real opportunity to give students access to the courses they desire to chart their own path to success. We thank the EdTech Awards for this honor, and just as importantly, we appreciate our district partners who are using Courseware to its potential to make a difference for kids.”
The EdTech Awards finalists and winners were narrowed from the larger field and judged based on various criteria, including: pedagogical workability, efficacy and results, support, clarity, value and potential. In addition to these two wins, Edmentum was named a finalist in six categories:
- Adaptive Technology Solution – Tutorials
- Career Planning Solution – Courseware
- Curriculum and Instruction Solution - EdOptions Academy
- Test Prep Solution - Study Island
- New Product or Service - Virtual Tutoring
- Tutoring Solution - Virtual Tutoring
