Edmentum Partners with EDU, Inc. to Make It Easier for Students to Apply to HBCUs
Bloomington, Minn. (November 7, 2024) – Edmentum, a global education leader in K-12 learning technology solutions, today announced it is partnering with EDU, Inc. to make it easier for students to apply to historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs).
All Edmentum customers are now able to access EDU, Inc.’s Common Black College Application (CBCA) and receive updates on potential scholarships. The CBCA enables students to apply to up to 66 HBCUs by completing a single form and paying a single fee.
“Edmentum understands the powerful role technology can play in removing barriers and scaling support to ensure all students can reach their full potential,” said Jamie Candee, President and CEO of Edmentum. “By simplifying the college application process for HBCUs, the Common Black College Application is unlocking opportunities for the next generation. We’re proud to work together with EDU, Inc. to expand access to students in our partner schools and districts.”
The CBCA is an online application, and upon submission, it is made available to up to 66 HBCUs of the applicant’s choice. Students are then able to track the progress of their application in a student dashboard. The CBCA Member Institutions log into the platform to access the student data. To date, more than 400,000 students from the United States, Africa, South America and the Caribbean have used the CBCA to apply to college.
“Edmentum creates learning technology to help students reach their full potential and graduate ready for college and career success,” said Robert Mason, founder and executive director of the CBCA. “Our partnership builds on that mission by ensuring students are supported as they transition to life after high school. The completion of our application significantly increases students’ educational opportunities by allowing them to receive acceptances and scholarship offers from several different colleges.”
Edmentum customers interested in accessing the application should contact Darrell Wilson, national executive director of strategic partnerships for Edmentum. Wilson has worked alongside EDU, Inc. for more than a decade to advance its mission to connect the dots among literacy, college readiness, and matriculation to college for students who want the opportunity to earn a degree.
