Exact Path Approved as Virginia Student Growth Assessment & Alternative Assessment to the VGA
Exact Path is approved by the Virginia Department of Education as a Student Growth Assessment and as an Alternative Assessment to the Virginia Growth Assessments (VGA).
Student Growth Assessment
Exact Path is approved as a through-year student growth assessment that measures individual progress in reading and mathematics for grades 3-8 to provide educators with actionable data to guide instruction and support alignment with the Virginia Standards of Learning (SOL).
With Exact Path's normed, adaptive diagnostic assessment, educators can pinpoint students’ discrete gaps by skill and domain ability, and demonstrate growth in reading and mathematics for grades 3-8. Students accelerate to and through grade level with personalized learning paths that adapt to their needs, using mastery-based instruction to fill skill gaps and advance progress.
Alternative Assessment to the VGA
Exact Path is approved as a through-year alternative assessment to the VGA. Senate Bill 345 and House Bill 1076 passed by the 2024 General Assembly permits school boards to administer alternative assessments, aligned to the Standards of Learning (SOL), to the Virginia Growth Assessments (VGA) during the 2024-2026 school years. The alternative assessments will not replace the end-of-year, federally required SOL tests in grades 3-8.
Drive Measurable Success for Virginia Students
Exact Path is proven effective in VA classrooms. Research conducted in Norfolk Public Schools found that students using Exact Path consistently achieved statistically significant improvements in their Virginia SOL Growth Assessment scores, with marked gains across all grade levels and continued growth as more skills are mastered within the platform. For every skill completed in Exact Path, students saw an increase in their SOL scores ranging from 1 to 1.6 units. Read the research.
