Courseware Students Enrolled in Algebra 1 and English 1 Score Higher on NWEA® MAP® Growth™ Assessments
The impact of Courseware was examined in a rigorous study of 9th grade students during the 2021–22 school year in a large, urban school district in the midwestern United States.
The study found that the use of Courseware Algebra 1 and English 1 was positively related to math and reading achievement on NWEA® MAP® Growth™ assessments.
An average 9th grade student who used the program online through synchronous or asynchronous delivery could accelerate learning for a gain of up to five percentile points in mathematics and up to three percentile points in reading as compared to a student who did not participate in the program.
Third-party validation through LearnPlatform confirms this quasi-experimental efficacy study meets the standards in the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) aligning with Level II, "Moderate Evidence," and meets the What Works Clearinghouse 5.0 Group Design standards with reservations.
