Elementary Students and Virtual Learning: Evidence-Based Outcomes and Best Practices

This case study goes under the hood of the EdOptions Academy K-5 program during the 2020-21 school year, one of the most disruptive and challenging years in the history of American education. We examine the EdOptions Academy model by hearing directly from several members of the instructional team, which has expanded dramatically to meet growing demand due to school disruptions beginning in 2020-21. They share insights on five themes for engaging students in high-quality virtual programs. In particular, they discuss EOA's system of communications, a foundation for meaningful relationships with students and parents.
